The term "fundus" refers to the back, inner lining of the eye, also known as the retina. Fundus photography is a highly specialized form of medical imaging that is used to analyze the condition of the retina, blood vessels, macula and the optic nerve.
Fundus photography (using a fundus camera) produces a series of photos that are helpful for detecting, recording and monitoring certain eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and detachment of the retina.
Fundus photography is a short, painless procedure that is performed during routine eye examinations at our office.
